Giving Back to the Local Community
Mautto founder and owner, Lynette Sedenquist, along with her mother Diane, hand knit beanie caps and quilt blankets for parents of newborns. These adorable hats and blankets are donated to hospitals in the surrounding area, including Dignity Health (Santa Cruz, California) and Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital (Hollister, California).
"Wanted to tell both of you how much we appreciate everything you guys do! Thank you so much from the OB department." -Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital
The lovely creations started in 2015 when Lynette's mother wanted to use some of her free time to help fellow church-goers in need. The reception was overwhelmingly positive, so the endeavor grew to include a local hospital’s obstetrics/maternity department.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, approximately 500 knitted beanie caps are made every year with loving hands for newborns. The quilted blankets take much longer to produce, but it is estimated at around 1-2 per week.
Lynette and Diane enjoy crafting together in their free time. The joy this brings to parents of newborns (and hospital staff) is priceless.
"Thank you and your mom for making all those baby hats for the hospital. They really needed it!" -Hospital Staff
